That’s the feeling Laura Geller wants chocolate-loving makeup aficionados to feel when they feast their eyes on the generously sized “The Truffles Collection,” currently available for $45 (a $168 value!). You could treat mother to a chocolate shadow extravaganza for Mother’s Day (It’s Sunday may 8th, ladies and gentlemen. Do not forget your mama!), or snag this delicious box of coco-inspired baked shadows for yourself.

Laura Gellar, The Truffles Collection
The Truffles Collection comes with four separate palettes, each based around a different coco treat, and all are packaged in a big box that opens much like a classic box of chocolates. The individual palettes are housed in colorful metallic cardboard that matches the “flavor” therein.

Baked shadow perfection, just as satisfying as digging into an actual box of chocolates!

Chocolate Plum Cordial, a berry-hued assortment, includes Marble, a matte pinkish off white; Frosting, a metallic pinked taupe; and Fig, a classic metallic plum.

Chocolate Toffee, a rich caramel-hued palette, includes Slate, a rich matte tan; brown Sugar, a rich shimmering golden brown; and Mahogany, a deep red-toned matte brown.

Chocolate Truffle is dark chocolate lover’s dream with Mushroom, a matte amazing toned tan; Smoke, a metallic true taupe; and Licorice, a smooth, matte black.

Chocolate Pistachio is an interesting mix with Vanilla, a true matte cream; Vintage, a warm-toned shimmering gold; and Forest, a distinct shimmering deep green with red glitter.

My favorite (and favorite truffle, what a coincidence!) is chocolate Pistachio, which stands apart the most to me among the four palettes, and among the shadows in it, forest is unlike anything I’ve used before. When applied wet with a bit of water, it leaves a spectacular deep sheen with red glitter sitting seductively on top. I’m wearing it with Vintage, and with Vanilla on my brown bone, in the picture at the top… What a shade!

The only downside I see with these, and I worry you may have known this pun was coming…but The Truffles Collection is literally like a box of chocolates in that you never know what you’re gonna get. The shades are stunning! — and they swatch beautifully, but they’re a bit unpredictable to apply. some of the mattes apply like a dream, while others go on patchy, and numerous of the metallic shades don’t blend as well as I expected. Fortunately, as the shadows are baked, they can easily be applied with a flat synthetic brush and a bit of water for a beautiful foiled look.

Which of these four palettes is your favorite? Does that coincide with your favorite kind of chocolate, or was that just me?
